MUSIC

Worship Music
Worship Music is selected by the worship team with an eye towards the Biblical texts used in worship that day. The music is presented by our Chancel choir to our praise of God and our celebration of the gifts of grace.

Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir sings in worship frequently during the year. This may include soloists, duets or other groups. Accompanied by organ, the singers and musicians seek to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ.
PRAYER

Prayer Chain
First’s prayer chain brings together a group of dedicated prayers, lifting up the needs and cares of others. Through the use of email, our prayer chain quickly reaches many Prayer Warriors

Prayer Shawl
Over 20 knitters and crocheters create prayer shawls filled with prayer for persons in need. Prayer shawls are presented at worship, blessed with prayer, and sent forth as a reminder of God’s care for his children in need.
OUTREACH

Mission Support
First Lutheran is a leader in mission support in the Northern Great Lakes Synod. Through our mission support we empower missionaries, new mission starts, seminaries, colleges, and many other ministries in their work.

Bible Camp
Fortune Lake Lutheran Camp is our camp! A “place of grace,” Fortune Lake touches many lives, and we are excited to be a part of Fortune Lake’s work through our support of their ministry.

Hunger Relief
A big part of our outreach is our support of hunger relieve in the local community and throughout the world. First Lutheran is consistently the top supporter of the ELCA World Hunger Appeal in the Northern Great Lakes Synod, and supports local food pantries at the Salvation Army, St. Vincent DePaul, and Faith Lutheran Church (Rock) as well.

Mission Endowment Fund
Through the Mission Endowment Fund First has ensured that all bequests and half of memorial gifts received by the congregation will serve mission and ministry beyond the congregation.

LWR / ELCA Good Gifts
The Sunday School works throughout the year to raise money to put toward orders for both the Lutheran World Relief and ELCA Good Gifts. With the money they raise, gifts of farms animals, water purification, fruit trees, etc., are purchased.

Companion Congregation
First Lutheran has developed a relationship with a companion congregation in Tanzania.
Kijichi Lutheran Church is a vibrant, growing community of faith in the suburbs of Dar es Salaam. We have held Kijichi in our prayers and have sought to share with them in supporting their ministry in one of the poorest countries in the world.
